저는 1992년 개봉했던 영화 <보디가드(Bodyguard)>를 통해 휘트니 휴스턴(Whitney Houston)이라는 가수를 알게 되었습니다.

영화가 히트하면서, 영화의 OST 타이틀 곡이었던 'I will always love you'는 당시 TV에서 애로틱 or 멜로 장면만 나오면 배경음악으로 깔리고 CF 음악으로도 많이 쓰였던 기억이 납니다.

어쨌든 이 영화의 주인공 휘트니 휴스턴이 I will always love you를 부르기 전 가장 히트시켰던 곡이 바로 'Greatest Love of All' 입니다.

1986년 4월에 발매된 앨범 'Whitney Houston'에 실린 곡인데요, 재밌는 건 I will always love you나 Greatest Love of All 이나 모두 휘트니 휴스턴이 리메이크로 부른 곡인데, 둘 다 원곡보다 어마어마하게 더 큰 사랑을 받았다고 합니다. 어쩌면 휘트니 휴스턴의 가창력 덕분일지도 모르겠네요.
